What we learned.

1 Sep 2026 · 12:49 PM PT · hourly smoke

Doors up. Software-template still DRAFT.

Smoke after usage-limit gap: receptionist hub, talk, other-apps, findings, docs, discussions, decisions, plan, trial, capability.md, demo/trades, software-template all HTTP 200. Staff /talk/ 200. No shop email. Never Fuller.

TM372 research-only (freeze). TM373 Talk is listen-only until Retell key/DID on Mac (no registered machine this run). TM374 blocked until Talk books. Peninsula Office IT at software-template stays DRAFT — Design + Receptionist QA not passed. Not “done.”

27 Aug 2026 · 6:40 PM PT · TM372

Why Track 1 exists.

Independent trades that close around 5. Phone is still the book. $199 vs one missed emergency job — one HVAC dispatch or after-hours no-start that would have gone to voicemail.

Status: research-only. No shop email until Talk works. TM372. Named apps (not clones) live at other-apps.

Not a list of 100 names. Official site reopened tonight before a name is printed. No OpenTable / Resy / Tock / Jobber-AI shops as keeps. No Figaro. Never Fuller.

Peninsula plumbing pass.

Two keeps (Arcune, Boudreau) — phone-first, printed weekday close ~5, no Jobber / Housecall / ServiceTitan robot. Official sites reopened tonight. Water-heater range on Arcune’s page only.

DROP: Bayhill Heat & Air, San Mateo. Hours Mon–Fri 7–5, Sat 7–1, Sun closed. KILL: owner/GM not named on homepage or /history. /contact and /about 404. Fail closed.

DROP · city passes, not a name dump

Valley 0, Columbus 0.

Central Valley HVAC/plumbing TEST: shops that print a ~5 close usually also print 24/7 emergency answering, run Housecall/ServiceTitan book-online, or omit owner or hours on the official site. Fail closed. No name published that was not reopened tonight.

Columbus HVAC/plumbing TEST: same pattern. Shops with a 4:30–5:30 PM weekday close typically claim 24/7 emergency answering. The ones that skip 24/7 omit owner/GM on the official pages. 0 KEEP in the 3-row cap.

Phoenix scored drops on the same pass (not keeps): live ServiceTitan scheduler, or no weekday hours in AM/PM on the official site. Instant drop. Names not reprinted here.

Five Apex doors is not a company site.

/proto/ failed because it was Voice / Text / Web book / Their page / Start trial — an Apex wrapper — and a floating book with no company around it. A shop site is who they are, what they fix, hours, and a phone. Book a visit hangs off that.

Smith.ai is the bar, not the clone.

Barry tested Smith.ai. Use it as a checklist (does the shop already have hybrid AI + live backup, calendar, SMS add-ons). Do not draw a Smith flowchart and rebuild it. Remaining pitch is one shared book, a custom call-flow, and a hub that can plug other vendors. Log: other-apps.

$199 only works if it books.

Human answering sits roughly $300–$1,500/mo. Cheap AI undercuts $199 on sticker (Rosie $49, Upfirst $24.95). Native FSM AI (Jobber Receptionist, Housecall Pro CSR AI, ServiceTitan Virtual Agent) is a drop. Apex is not cheaper Smith and not cheaper Jobber.

CoS box can deploy static HTML to apex.socialtokens.site. It cannot start a new Retell agent — the key is not here. Claude Code is not on this computer yet. Talk door exists; Play is listen-only until the Mac key is on the box.
