Our Story
A boutique academy built on one belief — that real, down-to-earth teaching matters more than any fancy website ever could.
The Founder's Path
Before selfLove.Yoga existed, its founder Barry Au-Yeung spent years as a software engineer — precise, analytical, driven by systems and logic. It was an Ashtanga Mysore practice that cracked open something the engineering world couldn't reach: presence, breath, and a quiet devotion to the self.
More than a decade later, Barry has built selfLove.Yoga around the same conviction that drew him to the mat in the first place — that "yoga is not merely about physical well-being but about nurturing a holistic balance of body, mind, and spirit." That belief is the founding principle behind every module, every live session, and every teacher this academy trains.
Our Guiding Word
Self-Devotion
"Yoga is not merely about physical well-being but about nurturing a holistic balance of body, mind, and spirit."
Atmabhakti is the Sanskrit heart of everything we teach — a devotion to self that begins on the mat and moves through every part of a student's life.
What Sets Us Apart
Since the pandemic, a wave of new studios have chased polish — sleek sites, curated shops, photogenic decor. selfLove.Yoga chose a different investment.
What Other Studios Chase
What We Choose Instead
"Unlike many post-pandemic studios that prioritize fancy websites, cool shops, and decorations over substantive teaching, selfLove.Yoga focuses on real, down-to-earth guidance from experienced teachers — training a new generation of skilled, knowledgeable yoga instructors in the most affordable way possible."
