Barry Au-Yeung

Lead Yoga Teacher & Founder

E-RYT500 YACEP Certified 11+ Years Teaching

Former software engineer, devoted Ashtanga Mysore practitioner, and the person behind every class on this site. Barry teaches the way he wishes he'd been taught — honestly, patiently, and without pretense.

his story

From code to the mat

Before he was ever a yoga teacher, Barry was a software engineer — spending his days debugging systems and his evenings, almost by accident, discovering that the mat asked something different of him than the keyboard ever had. What started as a way to unwind became a devoted daily Ashtanga Mysore practice, the kind that reorganizes a life around it rather than fitting into the margins of one.

Teaching yoga became an integral part of that journey, not a departure from it. Over more than a decade, Barry has trained under Vinyasa, Hatha, and Ashtanga traditions and brought that range into every studio, gym, and living room he's taught in — earning his E-RYT500 and YACEP certifications along the way, along with more than ten years of teaching experience and consistently strong reviews from students who keep coming back.

His engineering background shows up in how he teaches: methodical, clear, unafraid to break a pose down into its component parts until it makes sense in your body. But the heart of it is simpler than any system. Barry teaches because practicing yoga changed his life, and he wants that same possibility available to anyone willing to show up on the mat — beginner or lifelong practitioner, in a gym studio or halfway around the world through a screen.
