Trackmint vs the tools it replaces — features, role plays, and the price math
The marketing comparison: what each popular tool does, what Trackmint does, and three “day in the life” role plays showing the same job done with four tools vs one. Simple English.
0. The one-sentence pitch
The board tools have no money. The money tools have no board. Trackmint is the only one with both. Jira, Asana and Trello give you a great Kanban board and time tracking but no dollars — no rates, budgets or invoices; when you bill, you export and re-type. QuickBooks and Housecall Pro track dollars and progress beautifully but have no Kanban board, and Housecall is trades-only. Trackmint is built as one app: a board where every card carries its own hours, budget and billing, so the invoice builds itself — for every industry, not just one. Two things nobody else has: it spans law, trades, software and general business from one app, and your AI employees work the same board and bill their hours like staff.
1. The short version
Most working businesses run four subscriptions: a project tracker (Jira/Asana/Trello), a time tracker (Harvest/Toggl), an invoicing tool (QuickBooks/FreshBooks), and often an industry app (Housecall Pro for trades, Clio for law firms). Each is good at its one job — and each is a separate login, a separate bill, and a separate place for data to fall through the cracks. Trackmint does the connected version of all four jobs for $29–$59/month total.

3. Role play 1 — Pete the plumber (trades)
The 4-tool day: 8:00 job comes in by phone → types it into Housecall Pro ($79/mo). 12:30 finishes the job, scribbles hours on paper. 6:00 pm re-types hours into a spreadsheet. Friday: re-types everything again into QuickBooks ($38/mo) to invoice. Monthly software bill: ~$117+. Hours lost re-typing: ~3/week. Forgotten billables: the industry average says ~10%.
The Trackmint day: 8:00 job goes on the Job Board. Timer on when he starts, off when he ends. Friday: taps “New invoice” — the week’s logged hours and parts are already on it. Monthly bill: $29. Re-typing: zero.
4. Role play 2 — Linda the lawyer (legal)
The 4-tool day: matters in Clio ($39–129/user/mo), hours in its timer but expenses in QuickBooks, the assistant reconciles the two before billing, installment plans tracked in a spreadsheet. Monthly bill for a 3-person firm: $200–400.
The Trackmint day: matters on the Matter Board, timers per matter, expenses on the same record, installment invoices built in, and the legal Pro Pack scans filed documents for key fields. Monthly bill: $59 flat.
5. Role play 3 — Dana’s dev studio (software)
The 4-tool day: sprints in Jira ($8/user), hours in Harvest ($12/user), invoices in FreshBooks ($19+), and a monthly “which tickets were billable?” archaeology session. 4-person studio: ~$110/mo plus the reconciliation afternoon.
The Trackmint day: Sprint Board tickets carry their own timers; client invoices assemble from logged ticket hours. And one board member is an AI employee ($19 seat) that fixes small tickets overnight and logs its hours like everyone else. Monthly bill: $48.
6. The price math
| 4-tool stack | Trackmint | |
